The proposals must be introduced by two programme managers (1 from ULB and 1 from VUB). The programmes are expected to extend over two academic years, either from January 2026 to September 2027 or from September 2026 to September 2028.
Description complète : The Brussels Institute for Advanced Studies (BrIAS), co-founded by the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), is an incubator of ideas and research. It hosts research programmes typically lasting two years. A research programme consists in welcoming international senior fellows (established leading Researchers or equivalent) and junior fellows (recognised  Researchers at Post-Doc level or equivalent), organising conferences, debates, and seminars as well as any other activities that can contribute to the development and dissemination of knowledge in the selected theme.
In 2021-2023, BrIAS launched its first pilot phase with a programme dedicated to "The past, present, and future of food, climate, and sustainability". In 2023, BrIAS selected a programme on ‘Sustainable Robotics’ for its current edition.
Critères d’admission/attribution : The different proposals will be summited by the BrIAS Directors to a dedicated panel consisting of members from sister institutes, associated with EUTOPIA and CIVIS partners and chaired by the VUB and ULB vice-rectors for research.

Some of the criteria used to evaluate the proposals will be:
