Call for projects in Parkinson's disease - Research grant 2026
Fondation Roi Baudouin
The Funds François, Gabrielle & Christian De Mesmaeker, Jean & Anna Trap-Bruynseels, Jean Vernuf & Eliane Tilman and Léon & Miriam Velge managed by the King Baudouin Foundation support scientific research on Parkinson’s disease in Belgium. In 2026, the Funds support cutting-edge research projects that develop, validate, or implement novel methods, tools, or biomarkers for the early detection of Parkinson’s disease.
The call prioritizes non-invasive, scalable, and clinically actionable approaches to enable timely intervention, improve patient outcomes, and reduce the societal burden of PD.
The proposed projects are within the following scopes: biomarkers, digital health, multimodal approaches, clinical translation and patient/caregiver involvement.
Financement
A financial support of maximum 250.000€, covering a period of 3 years, will be given to a high-level research project. An independent jury of experts will fix the amount based on detailed and realistic budget. The support can be used for:
personnel costs
equipment and consumables
patient/caregiver engagement activities
dissemination and knowledge translation
overhead (up to 17%)

Applicant eligibility
The lead applicant is an early carreer researcher, holding a doctorate for a maximum of 8 years following his/her PhD thesis public defense (with additional time in case of documented career breaks), belinging to an academic institution or an university of applied sciences and, based in Belgium.
Project eligibility
Projects must
focus on early detection of PD (pre-motor or prodromal stages) and within the scopes of the call
develop, validate, or implement methods, tools, or biomarkers for the early detection of PD
