Description courte : This seminar will be of interest to regional practitioners who are a interested in current and future EU policy on healthy ageing and those with interests in project development at the regional level via European programmes such as FP7, Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, Ambient Assisted Living and the Public Health Programme
Description complète : This seminar will examine current responses to the ageing agenda from a research and innovation perspective. The seminar will address the Commission’s first Joint Programming approach promoting cooperation across Member States targeting Alzheimer’s disease and will provide information on the next steps on this innovative initiative at the European level. Moving to a more regional level, the Commission will also outline the current research agenda in ageing from an ICT perspective and future opportunities. This will be complemented by a presentation on the Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) initiative which look back at the first two calls and unveil possible future directions for this programme. Following this policy and programmed focused introduction, two regions will highlight their activities in healthy ageing research and innovative approaches. Aston University’s Research Centre for Healthy Ageing (ARCHA) will outline the activities that they are undertaking and its vision to be an internationally-regarded centre of inter-disciplinary research excellence in advancing prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of age-associated decline. The South Denmark region will also unveil their vision of becoming the next AAL technology centre of Europe - ‘South Denmark as Welfare Tech Region’.
