Description courte :	Fulbright awards scholarships to Belgian and Luxembourgish citizens to lecture or conduct research in any academic field at an accredited U.S. institution for a period between three months and one academic year (9 months). Applicants must present a letter of invitation from an American university or think tank.
Description complète :	Fulbright Post-doctoral awards fund Belgian citizens to research or lecture at an accredited U.S. institution for a period between three months and one year (9 months). The most competitive applicants for Fulbright awards demonstrate ambassadorial qualities and an interest in cultural exchange. It is important for candidates to be able to articulate a clear, creative, and feasible plan for their time in the United States, why right now is the right time to pursue this plan, and how it will ultimately help them achieve their personal and professional goals in the future. The Commission is looking for candidates who will have a multiplier effect within their US and Belgian communities and who wish to ultimately return to Belgium to share their newfound knowledge and experience after their grant has ended. In this regard, it is also important to note that all Fulbright grantees must travel to the US on a J-1 visa, which requires them to return to Belgium or their country of permanent legal residency for at least two years at some point after their grant before they are allowed to return to the US to live or work permanently on an H, L, K or LPR visa.
Critères d’admission/attribution :	- Belgian or Luxembourgish citizenship - Proficiency in English - Minimum of a doctoral degree (PhD) by the time of departure or 5+ years of professional experience - Academic excellence or outstanding personal/professional background
Financement :	- Scholarship of up to $3000 per month - J-1 visa sponsorship - Pre-Departure Orientation in Brussels - Travel stipend of $1000 - Sickness and accident insurance - In-country programming (e.g. Enrichment Seminars) - Prestigious title and alumni network
Pour postuler / aide du Département Recherche :	Deadline: December 1 (at noon Brussels time). The Fulbright application process is entirely online; applications and supplemental materials mailed or e-mailed to the Commission will not be considered. Please note that you will need to address why you are applying for a Fulbright grant in your application. Complete Fulbright post-doctoral award applications consist of: - Americanized CV - 3 to 5 page single-spaced Project Statement - 1 to 3 page Bibliography of References relevant to the proposed research - Transcripts and diploma from most recent degree. Note: You must have a PhD diploma in hand by the time of departure to the U.S. - Three letters of recommendation (uploaded directly into online application by chosen recommenders) - Letter of invitation or affiliation from a U.S. host institution; this letter should contain the institution’s letterhead and mention the exact dates (or academic term) of your research stay as well as any facilities you will have access to during your grant *Please note that we do not require supplemental forms such as a letter of your home institution or official exam results (e.g., TOEFL). However, it is optional to include these test results in the appropriate application fields. Applications without any of these materials will not be considered for an award. Candidates with strong completed applications submitted by the deadline will be invited to the Commission in January for a mandatory in-person interview in English.
