Search for anomalous triple and quartic gauge couplings at the LHC


Abstract : A data analysis will be performed on the CMS data collected in LHC Run 2 (2015-2018) to measure the Z Z differential production cross-section and test the triple neutral gauge couplings, e.g. gamma Z Z or Z Z Z, that are vanishing in the Standard Model, while deviations could be a sign of new physics. This search will be performed in the channel ZZ->l+l- + missing transverse energy that benefits from a high branching fraction. Also, constraints on the WWZZ quartic coupling can be derived in the ZZ+2 jet final state. The PhD student will be integrated in the ULB experimental group on CMS. Participation to the running of the experiment at CERN is expected. A contribution to the preparation of the upgrades of CMS (GEM detectors, silicon strip detectors), in which the ULB is involved, is also possible.
