Functions and dysfunctions of the basal ganglia system in motor control, motor learning and drug addiction.

Abstract : Our research focuses on the respective roles of different neuronal subpopulations and genes of the basal ganglia system as well as their dysfunctions or differential implications in its pathologies as neurodegenerative diseases leading to movement disorders as Parkinson and Huntington disease and psychiatric diseases as drug addiction and schizophrenia. Our research is based on an integrated approach from the gene to the functions that it determines and from the individual synapse to the neuronal network using a multidisciplinary approach.
