Proof of concept for new antituberculous drugs

Abstract : Introduction:Antimicrobial resistant infections are major public health treats and multidrug resistant tuberculosis is growing concern Objectives: To further study the feasibility of new drugs (vancomycin with orlistat) patented by the ULB as potential antituberculous drugs: 1) by better characterizing the mechanism of action of these drugs, 2) by investigating the frequency of mycobacterial resistance development to this drug combination and the mechanisms of resistance, 3) by developing dry powder formulation for inhalation administration, 4) by investigating the efficacy and the mechanisms of action of these drugs in solution or as dry powder in an infected macrophage model.
