Design and performance of silicon tracking detectors for the upgrade of the CMS experiment at the high-luminosity LHC

Abstract : The particle physics group of ULB is involved in the uprade of the CMS experiment for the high-luminosity phase of the LHC collider at CERN (so-called HL-LHC). We have taken in charge the construction of one large part of the new tracking system. For this we will build about 2000 high-tech detectors that should be capable of selecting signals from high-energy particles at 40 MHz. The PhD student will be involved in the design of the detector prototypes and in the deployment of the production facility in Brussels.
