Active nano-stabilization

Abstract : The objective of the project is to develop a six degree-of-freedom stage, capable of combining long range positioning capability with a high accuracy and a low sensitivity to environmental disturbances. The work will include the development of dedicated mechatronic architecture, the design of robust control strategies, and experimental validations. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, where the student will spend approximately half of his research time. The PhD candidate should preferably hold a MSc in mechanical engineering or mechatronics, and should have an strong knowledge in vibration theory and in automatic control.
