Search for invisible decays of the Brout-Englert-Higgs boson in the channel ZH->l+l- + missing transverse energy

Abstract : A search for decays of the Brout-Englert-Higgs scalar boson into new particles that escape the detection, will be performed with the CMS data collected in LHC Run 2 (2015-2018). Testing whether the scalar boson couples to new particles such as Dark Matter candidates is well motivated e.g. in so-called Higgs portal models of Dark Matter. This search will be performed in the channel ZH->l+l- + missing transverse energy. That channel is easy to select thanks to the charged leptons. The PhD student will be integrated in the ULB experimental group on CMS. Participation to the running of the experiment at CERN is expected. A contribution to the preparation of the upgrades of CMS (GEM detectors, silicon strip detectors), in which the ULB is involved, is also possible.
