A cognitive and behavioral approach to arithmetic development : crosscultural comparison

Abstract : Many studies have shown that the nature of the number word system has a profound influence on how and how fast children learn to count and calculate. However most of the evidence is based on large cohort correlations, at the macroscopic level. The aim of the project is to examine the acquisition of counting and its influence on arithmetic development across languages through microgenetic longitudinal and intervention studies.
