Control of hovering flapping wing micro air vehicle

Abstract : The project is concerned with the design, fabrication and control of a micro flapping wing vehicle of the size of a hummingbird. The goal of the project is to develop a mechanism that generates control moments by modifying the wing kinematics or shape in order to stabilize the MAV in roll, pitch and yaw during hovering. The work will include the attitude sensor selection, the kinematic design, the fabrication of the system using a 3D printing technology, the development of the control algorithm and its implementation into a micro controller, and the testing of the complete system.
