Multi-physical behaviour of soils and rocks

Abstract : The research activities of the Laboratory of GeoMechanics take place in the general context of environmental geomechanics and focus on the multi-physical behaviour of geomaterials (soils, rocks) through a three-part approach (experimental, constitutive and numerical modelling). Those fundamental developments are applied to geotechnical and geomechanical issues. Possible applications of those fundamental developments are related to geotechnical and geomechanical engineering problems, including - soil behaviour around underground nuclear water disposal - heat exchanger geostructures (geothermal energy) - soil stabilization through lime treatment - behaviour of problematic (expansive) soils - Damage behaviour of rocks - Slope stability problem
