Enzymaticaly enhanced advanced oxygenation process of organic micropollutants in wastewater

Abstract : Degradation of organic micropollutants (bisphenol A, phtalates, dioxines, xenobiotics, ...) in wastewater is a key challenge of the 21th century. These ubiquitious, highly variable and versatils man-made molecule might have an unpredictable impact on the environment and man health. Nowaday, advanced oxidation processes coupled to adsorption is seen as the only solution to treat the wastewater containing these pollutants. These technics are however very costly. A laccase based alternative has been developped in the recent year. The TIPs laboratory, in collaboration with other laboratories, is actively working in this field and has developed an expertise on the enzymatic degradation of micropollutants and has a network of industrial contacts active in water treatment. In the present PhD, it is proposed to couple the advanced oxidation process with the alternative enzymatic solution developped in order to have a synergetic, lower cost process.
