Description courte :

The program is designed for Chinese students who want to undertake a joint supervised PhD or a full PhD at ULB. Both ULB and CSC agree to jointly support up to 30 PhD candidates per year.

Description complète :

The China Scholarship Council and the Université libre de Bruxelles signed an agreement which purpose is to provide high quality research training to qualified students from Chinese universities/research institutions and to develop research cooperations between ULB and Chinese universities/research institutions. Priority fields are: Toxicology, Pharmacology, Computer science, Mathematics, Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Physics, Health, Biology and Environmental science, Business and Management, Economy, Sociology, Political Science, Law, Archeology, Journalism and Communication. Critères d’admission/attribution :

(1) Applicants must be citizens and permanent residents of the People’s Republic of China at the time of application;

(2) Applicants may not be working abroad when applying for a CSC scholarship. Joint supervised PhD candidates must be registered at a Chinese university.

(3) Successful applicants must return to China upon completion of their studies and/or research;

(4) Applicants must satisfy the selection criteria set out by CSC;

(5) Applicants must be formally admitted by ULB. They must therefore fulfill relevant academic entry requirements set by ULB，including a high level of English or French language proficiency;

(6) Applicants should undertake their study/research in one of the priority field identified by ULB and CSC. However, applications for other study/research fields will also be considered. Priority fields may be subject to availability of relevant programs at ULB.

Financement :

The scholarship will have a duration of 6 to 24 months for joint supervised PhD candidates and a duration of maximum 48 months for PhD candidates doing their full PhD at ULB.

Successful applicants will be able to contact the ULB International Welcome Desk which can help them with accommodation, banking and visa formalities. ULB will also provide to selected PhD candidates free French course (French as a foreign language).

CSC will consider their application for a living allowance as prescribed from time to time by the Chinese Government (including health insurance), a return-to-country international airfare by the most economical route, and visa application fees.
